Estimate one invoice's visible cost

This simple estimate excludes minimums, aging tiers, reserves, setup charges, and contract penalties. Use a provider's sample settlement for a final comparison.

Worked example

On a $5,000 invoice, a 2% fee equals $100 before transfer fees, minimums, aging tiers, or reserve adjustments. Compare the final settlement, not just the percentage.

Build an all-in cost

Start with the factoring fee, then add every charge that would appear on a real settlement or monthly statement.

  • Factoring or discount fee
  • Wire, ACH, or instant-payment charge
  • Monthly minimum shortfall
  • Due-diligence or setup charge
  • Aging, concentration, or debtor-specific adjustments

Advance is not the same as cost

The advance percentage controls immediate cash. A reserve is generally released according to the agreement after payment and adjustments; it should not automatically be treated as a fee.

  • Track cash advanced now
  • Track reserve held
  • Track fees deducted
  • Track final reserve release

Frequently asked questions

What is an all-in factoring rate?

It is the total cost after the base fee and applicable transaction, minimum, aging, or service charges are included.

Is the advance percentage the factoring fee?

No. The advance is the portion released initially; the fee is the cost. Reserve treatment depends on the agreement.

Can I compare factoring fees as an annual percentage rate?

An annualized figure can illustrate the cost of short payment cycles but is not a loan APR and may exaggerate or confuse the comparison. Use actual dollars per invoice and per month first.
